PCC Marker Assessor Training

Edited

The first step to becoming an ICF Portfolio assessor at any credential level (ACC, PCC or MCC) is completing the ICF PCC Marker Assessor Training.

This training is designed to prepare individuals to use the PCC Markers to assess coaching recordings/sessions to determine if they meet the ICF minimum performance standards for the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) level coaching. Upon completion of the training, graduates will be authorised to use the PCC Markers for assessment purposes within Accredited Coach Training Programs (ACTPs) and will be eligible for consideration to become an ICF Portfolio Assessor.

(Important: Not all individuals who complete the PCC Marker Assessor Training will be invited to become ICF Portfolio Assessors. ICF invites individuals to serve as ICF Portfolio assessors based on the general demand for assessors at a given time and/or for assessors who are able to assess in particular languages). The only requirement that needs to be met to be eligible for the training is that one must hold a valid and active PCC or MCC Credential in good standing - i.e., not expired, no ethical violations, not currently under ethical review).

To give you some information about the current status of the training, in November 2019, ICF released the updated Core Competencies. As soon as the updated Core Competencies were released, ICF started working to update the PCC Markers to align with the updated Core Competency structure. This work was completed in October of 2020. You can find a copy of the updated PCC Markers by visiting this webpage:
https://coachingfederation.org/pcc-markers . Upon the release of the updated PCC Markers, ICF started working to align the PCC Marker Training with the updated PCC Markers and the Core Competency structure. Additionally, the training structure itself was also updated to increase the efficiency and capacity of the training and to improve the learning for participants.

On Friday, August 20, 2021, ICF launched the full, updated PCC Marker Training. Unlike the original PCC Marker Training, the updated training is 100% online, self-paced, and on-demand. There has been a waitlist for the training for some time now. We transitioned to this on-demand format to be able to meet the high demand for the training, and to reduce the wait time as much as possible. While the training is 100% online and on-demand, due to troubleshooting and other customer service support requests, there is a limit to how many participants we can accommodate at one time. ICF sends new training enrolment invitations on a monthly basis. As soon as we are able to accommodate you in the training, we will send you an email with an enrolment link.

The updated training is 40 training hours total. Participants receive 40 Core Competency CCEUs upon completion of the training.

The training includes self-paced, asynchronous, online learning modules. These modules introduce each marker one at a time, explain how to assess the marker in a coaching recording, provide concrete examples of the marker being demonstrated (or not being demonstrated), and include interactive exercises that help training participants solidify their learning. Additionally, the training includes an optional, synchronous video conference call, which occurs twice per month. This call occurs over Zoom and is led by experienced assessors and PCC Marker Assessment trainers (those who have taught the PCC Marker Assessor training in the past). This calls give participants an opportunity to ask questions and to dive deeper into their understanding of the markers.

Finally, the training includes five recorded coaching sessions that participants are asked to assess throughout the training. These are real coaching conversations that the ICF has been given consent to use for training purposes. Once a participant submits his or her assessment of a recording, they receive feedback to help them learn and deepen their understanding.

The total cost of the updated Comprehensive PCC Marker Training is $150 USD. This fee is charged upon enrolment, prior to the start of the training.
